Making summer school fun: Vacation Bible School camp

Public school in Southborough doesn’t start until the end of the month. Meanwhile, most area camps seem to end their season by August 16th.

If you are worried about entertaining your kids and/or teens for that week in between, St Mark’s Episcopal Church offers a solution.

The church is hosting its annual Vacation Bible School for kids the week of August 19-23. They are looking for registrants and for teen (or adult) volunteers.

The half day camp will be held 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at the church.

The program is open to all children pre-K through entering 5th grade. (It is not necessary to be a member of any church to participate.)

The camp will group children by grade for learning and activities. The daily schedule includes games, outdoor activities, songs, crafts, skits, stories, and snacks.

Some additional after-party fun is planned for campers that week. These events take place immediately following the morning sessions:

  • Wed – Tween party for 8-12 yr olds with a cookout lunch, movie and tie dye t-shirt making
  • Thurs – Optional field trip to Purgatory Chasm
  • Fri – Brief concert for families performed by the kids, followed by a picnic lunch

The cost is only $40 for the week for one child, $75 or two kids, and $100 for three kids. I have to admit – that’s by far the best pricing I’ve seen for any program this summer.

Call the church at 508-481-1917 or email Melissa at tobeslabelle@mac.com for more information. Info and registration forms can also be found in the church office or on our church website stmarkssouthborough.org.
