Are you ready for some football? Pre-season starts Friday (updated)

I’ve been asked to share this contributed message for Algonquin’s T-Hawks football:

The Algonquin Regional High School 2013 Football season ended on a decent note with a couple of wins and a few of the young men heading off this summer to play college football. The 2014 season will see its second year of playoffs, very similar to the Division 1 FCS playoffs, it looks to be a very good season for the young men in the maroon and gold.

Algonquin has 10 solid juniors returning for their senior year, and many looking to play college football and perhaps at the  D1 level – It could be a really exciting season many college recruiters on the sidelines and a great home field concession stand.

What is really exciting is the program that Head Coach Justin McKay and his coaching staff (many very skilled and D1 coaches and former college players) have built the past three seasons. And the feeder program from the younger kids and the American Football League, this finally may be a turning point for Algonquin football for years to come.

So please, come on out and support the team. It starts Friday night at Ashland (short 10 minute ride) in the first of two pre-season games at 7pm in Ashland. Next Friday they play their second pre-season game at Hopkinton at 7pm.

The upcoming game schedule is:

  • Friday, August 29, 2014, 7:00 pm, Away vs. Ashland (pre-season)
  • Friday, September 57:00 pm, Away vs. Hopkinton (pre-season)

The program has definitely made some great progress…JFYI the Ashland DQ is closed :-( [http://www.yelp.com/biz/dairy-queen-ashland-4] But that shouldn’t deter folks from coming out and supporting the T-Hawks!

Actually the DQ in Ashland is open now on Pond Street. They wanted a location where they could be open year round. We were there not too long ago.

Hi Resident,

Where on Pond St. Has DQ moved to? We’ve missed it!

It is between Shaws and Market Basket near the old Nautilus of Ashland (Ashland Tennis Club). I think it is probably closer to Market Basket than Shaws but you can get there either way. My son was there not to long ago and they have quite the set up according to him. They had lunch and ice cream. Enjoy!
