35th Annual Senior Conference: free services, workshops, food and raffle prizes

Every year, area senior citizens are welcomed to a special conference hosted by state officials. This year’s event has been announced for Thursday, April 23rd. Here are the details:

Senator Jamie Eldridge (D-Acton) today announced details for the 35th annual Senior Conference at Hudson High School on Thursday, April 23rd, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Senior Conference will feature a variety of free services, workshops, food and raffle prizes for seniors in attendance.

“Each year, the senior conference provides our seniors with information they can use to help them maintain healthy, financially secure and independent lifestyles,” said Senator Eldridge. “I am proud to host the 35th annual senior conference to help spread awareness about where and how to get the care our seniors need in our community, spend time hearing what is on their mind, and provide area seniors a deserving day of information, food, and fun.”

Senator Eldridge will be joined later in the day by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant, Representative Jennifer Benson (D-Lunenburg), Representative Danielle Gregoire (D-Marlborough), Representative Sheila Harrington (R-Groton), Representative Kate Hogan (D-Stow), Representative David K. Muradian, Jr (R-Grafton),Representative Carmine Gentile (D-Sudbury) and Representative Harold P. Naughton, Jr. (D-Clinton).

With the grand prize being a lift chair, other prizes include gift certificates from Walgreens, Roche Brothers, Hannaford’s, Knight’s Airport Limousine, The Rail Trail etc, gift baskets from the Vin Bin,Colonial Candies and Starbucks, passes to the New England Aquarium, Tower Hill Botanic Garden, Butterfly Conservatory & Gardens, and the movies. 

The conference will feature a variety of interactive workshops that cover a wide scope of topics such as health care, financial planning, Zumba Gold, Gentle Pilates, Stretch & Relaxation, nutrition, independent living and more. The event features free coffee, donuts and bagels during breakfast, a hot catered lunch, health screenings and raffle prizes.

The annual conference has become a staple in the Middlesex and Worcester District since 1980 and has been hosted by predecessors such as former Congressman Chet Atkins, former Governor Paul Cellucci and former Secretary of Environmental Affairs Robert Durand.

The conference will be held on Thursday, April 23rd at Hudson High School, located at 69 Brigham St, Hudson, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is free for seniors.
