Pre-Mother’s Day Annual Plant Sale – May 9

Above: Thanks to the Southborough Gardeners, I know what I’m buying this weekend. (Photo posted to Flickr by Muffet)

Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday. As usual, the Southborough Gardeners are making it easy to find a great gift.

On Saturday May 9th, the group will hold its annual Plant Sale at the Community House (at the corner of routes 30 and 85).

The sale will include a wide selection of annuals, perennials and hanging baskets. Everything sold will be suitable for spring planting. (And I think we can trust the Southborough Gardeners to know what does well here in the spring!)

The plants are donated by club members, some even transplant from their own gardens.

Sale hours are  from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. For the best selection, shop early!

Proceeds from the public sale will support town beautification, education, and the Southborough Gardeners’ Scholarship Fund.

Does anyone know if there will be vegetables? And price range. If so it might make sense to shop there rather than the stores? Thanks.

We sell plants in a very wide range of prices from $2 for some, small, 4″ nursery pots to $35 for a planted container garden.

We will have vegetable plants grown and sold by students from Algonquin Regional High School. I don’t know what they will be charging for their vegetable plants

UPDATE: It appears that the late spring season delayed greenhouse activities at Algonquin, so there will not be vegetables at the plant sale this year. I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience that the information in my previous comment may have caused.

I hope everyone will stop by and see us at the Community House this Saturday!
