A Southborough resident is asking her sister’s former hometown to support her fundraising for veterans.

Veteran Kerry Kendall served in Afghanistan while still a resident of Southborough.

While in the service, Kerry and her sister Robin participated in the Run to Home Base fundraiser. (Robin ran Fenway for Kerry who was overseas. And Kerry had the opportunity to run at a satellite race in Afghanistan. You can read the 2012 story here.)

Now, Kerry is running for the fundraiser again. Though Kerry is no longer a resident, her sister is asking the community to remember her service and roots. She is hoping the town will rally to the good cause.

Run to Home Base seeks to help veterans with combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury:

The 2015 RUN TO HOME BASE presented by New Balance is a unique and special event that celebrates our military heroes and raises necessary funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program. The Home Base Program is committed to serving the needs of veterans with combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury and their families, but we need your support.

Your support to the Home Base Program will help to ensure that local veterans who served our country receive the clinical treatment they need for combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury, and that their families get the guidance and support they need. The Home Base Program also seeks to advance innovative treatments that hold the most potential for helping veterans with combat stress and/or traumatic brain injury and their families.
