Bus Routes: This year’s routes; Ask your questions

The School Routes for the 2015-16 school year are now available.

The schools always advise to be ready at least 10 minutes before you think the bus will be there. And yet, be prepared for delays the first week as drivers and families adjust. (This year, some road construction projects may also cause additional delays in early weeks for some buses.)

For parents whose kids are starting school or switching schools, figuring out the timing can be nerve-wracking.

The best option is always to ask a neighbor on the route. But what if you don’t have someone to ask?

Have a question about when to expect the bus for pickup or dropoff?

Post a comment, and hopefully someone on your route can help you figure it out.

What are the chances that school buses will someday be equipped with GPS, allowing parents and students to know their locations at any instant via a smartphone app?

Be careful what you ask for.

1. A GPS is a receiver so it cannot transmit it has to be hooked up to some form of a transmitter (eg a cell phone) that will regularly send out date on the bus location

2. There are huge security issues related to what you want. If you have access to information about where your child’s bus is so will the rest of the world. Think about the case of a nasty custody fight. Local governments are not well equipped to deal with the sort of security infrastructure this will be required.

As a parent with Kids – I think this would be a great app and have thought about it many times when i am standing around waiting for a bus in January. The App already exists and is being used by the city of Boston,…. https://www.codeforamerica.org/apps/wheres-my-school-bus/

Maybe they could get this online for Southborough.

Does anyone know if we were able to keep the same bus drivers? I remember reading that we were going to use another bus company this year (or I could just have thought I read that).

For Trottier / Neary Bus S6, they are missing the 35 Darlene Drive stop. There will be 4 students at that stop.
