The Southborough Youth Soccer Association is looking for volunteers. This time it’s not a plea for coaches. They are reaching out for help to maintain SYSA as “a vital and thriving recreational program within our community”.

At a recent strategy session, the board identified the roles needed. Now they are looking for people who might be willing to fill them. The key roles are Director of Marketing and Communications, Secretary, and Community Liaison/BAYS Representative.

Interested volunteers should contact them through Sunday, January 29th.

Details are in their announcement below:

The Southborough Youth Soccer Board of Directors recently held a strategy session to discuss the current status and future direction for our youth soccer program. We will be announcing a series of improvements to SYSA in the coming weeks leading up to the Spring season.

As a first step, we identified an opportunity to add several roles to our existing Board to better serve the program and build stronger ties with soccer community.

As such, we are in the process of soliciting volunteers to fill the following roles:

Director of Marketing and Communications (DOMC): The DOMC will be responsible for managing general communications to our membership. The DOMC will also lead web site strategy and implementation including content, integration with our apparel and uniform vendor Soccer.com, announcements, photos (including the potential for individual and team photos), etc. Additionally, the DOMC will manage all promotions including fund raising via spirit wear and branded merchandise, turf field donations (such as engraved bricks), etc.

Secretary: The Secretary will own the meeting calendar and manage agendas for meetings, coordinate time/place and availability. The Secretary will also captures all minutes and assign owners for action items, publish notes post meeting and follow up on assigned tasks from prior meetings.

Community Liaison/BAYS Representative: The Community Liaison/BAYS Rep will represent and advocate for the SYSA program as part of the BAYS Board Meeting and will ideally occupy a Board role at BAYS. The Liaison will also attend Southborough town department meetings when topics impact SYSA (Southborough Recreation) and report back to SYSA Board.

In order to keep Southborough Youth Soccer a vital and thriving recreational program within our community, we need your help.

If you are interested and willing to take on any of the above roles or join the Board in another capacity, please send an Email indicating your interest to Ian Fier, Vice President of SYSA, at ifier@verizon.net. Please include in the message the role you are interested in applying for, a bit of background on yourself, why you are interested in the role, any relevant experience and soccer history (if applicable).

We will be accepting volunteers through January 29th, and will notify selected candidates by February 5.

Thanks in advance for your interest and hope to see you around the fields this Spring!
