Photos: St. Matthews renovation and build out (Updated)

Above: St. Matthew’s Steeple is down. But don’t worry, you can expect it to go back up soon. (images cropped from parish newsletter and photo by Virginia Cumming)

A reader shared a photo that startled me today. I was unaware that St. Matthews was in the midst of a huge renovation project. Which means, some of you must also be in the dark.

I checked in with the church office today and learned that construction on the expansion project began earlier this summer. The church is targeting Labor Day for completion.*

In the meantime, they are still holding mass this summer. Services are being held in the Parish Center Hall.

You can get a better look at the church before and (chronologically) during construction by clicking thumbnails below:

*Updated (8/17/17 11:27 am): Reverend James Flynn confirmed that the Labor Day target was a dream. As is fairly usual with construction schedules, it’s not looking like the goal date will be met. Now, they are hoping for some time in October. He promised to let us know when it happens.
