Thanksgiving-Eve fire in Southborough

On Wednesday night of last week, the garage of a Southborough home caught fire. Fortunately, the family is safe, and the fire was contained to the garage and doused.

Southborough Wicked Local captured the drama:

Jane Fedorowicz was cooking her traditional Thanksgiving creamed onions Wednesday night when a stranger showed up at her door with some unexpected news: Her garage was on fire.

Fedorowicz said a young man alerted her family to the fire at their 10 Heather Lane home shortly before 6 p.m. With an apple pie still baking in the oven, they snapped into action, maneuvering away an Acura that was parked in the two-car garage and spraying the area with a hose and fire extinguisher.

Fire crews from Southborough arrived soon after and extinguished what remained of the Thanksgiving eve blaze. Firefighters from Framingham and Westborough also offered support.

No injuries were reported, Fire Chief Joe Mauro said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though Mauro said the origin has been identified.
