The winter season has barely begun. But there’s already a lot of excitement over at Algonquin.
On Wednesday, Boys Hockey beat Westborough in the first game of the Boroughs Cup. That pitted them against Wachusetts for the cup final on Saturday. Southborough Wicked Local wrote:
Algonquin went into the matchup against perennially CMass boys hockey power Wachusett in the finale of the Boroughs Cup as a clear underdog.
Playing with plenty of grit and toughness, Algonquin battled for a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory over Wachusett in the championship game at the North Star Youth Forum on Saturday night. (read more)

Tournament MVP Tommy Ackil scored the tying AND game winning goal to complete a 3 goal comeback!! #dontbetagainstthethawks #2-0
They aren’t the only THawks teams starting off 2-0. The Girls Swimming and Boys Basketball also achieved that last week. And Wrestling is already at 3-0. Plus, the only Algonquin teams that scored losses, evened up with matching wins.
