Letter: In support of Louis Kuchnir’s run for U.S. Congress

[Ed note: My Southborough accepts signed letters to the editor submitted by Southborough residents. Letters may be emailed to mysouthborough@gmail.com.

The following letter is in support of a Southborough resident running in the primary on Tuesday. For a reminder of the primary details, click here .]

To the Editor:

When Jane Swift was Governor of Massachusetts (2001-2003, completing the term of Gov. Paul Cellucci) she nominated Louis to the Board of Registration of Physician Assistants. Before that he had been elected to the Board of Trustees of the Southborough, MA Library.

The dermatologists of Massachusetts elected him President of the Massachusetts Academy of Dermatology for the maximum 2 terms (2009 to 2015).

His education includes BS in Chemistry and in Biology (MIT 1983-87), PhD in Physical Chemistry (Harvard Univ. 1987-93), MD (Washington Univ., St. Louis, MO 1993-97), Medicine Internship (Lahey Clinic, Burlington, MA 1997-98), Dermatology residency (UMass Medical School, Worcester, MA 1998-2001.)

Since 2001, Louis is founding physician and full-time doctor at Kuchnir Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery where he has been responsible for over two hundred thousand patients, taught hundreds of medical students, and partnered with dozens of other doctors.

We were Brazilian immigrants when Louis was born in Illinois. He became an Eagle Scout in 1983. My wife and I became American citizens in 1975 and moved to Southborough, MA in 2003 to be close to his children. I am proud of my son, the doctor, husband and father. While he has been a life-long Republican, he has never before been a candidate and will never be a politician. Unlikely to run for re-election, I know Louis would serve the nation as an honest, moderate, sensible legislator. He would be a true statesman in the 116th U.S. Congress.

Sincerely,

Moyses Kuchnir

(I had to crop it – otherwise signs would have been illegible once I resized the photo to fit on the blog.) You can see the yard signs by clicking on the image right.]

I thank My Southborough for publishing this letter. And I thank the voters for reading it.

While I am a Republican, I believe voters in the fifth district will find my positions to be moderate. Ten positions are succinctly stated on my campaign literature and easily viewed on my campaign’s website, KuchnirForCongress. Twenty-five positions not listed elsewhere are appended here.

As I continue to engage my fellow Americans, my understanding expands, my views moderate, and my positions thoughtfully evolve. This process is an ongoing privilege. Thank you, indeed.

Dr. Kuchnir believes:
