Southborough man and friend face charges over fired gun

The Southborough Police Department has issued news about charges being pressed against a Southborough man and his friend.  On Saturday, the Madison Place resident’s gun was purportedly “discharged” by his friend.  Thankfully no one was hurt.

From the SPD’s release:

On, 10/13/2018, at 2135 hours, the Southborough Police responded to [Madison Place[ for a report of a Disturbance in Progress. After speaking with a male and female outside the residence, it was determined that someone had possibly discharged a firearm inside of [an apartment], and left the scene. Further investigation showed the apartment owner was showing his pistol (H&K 9 mm) to a friend when the discharge occurred sending one round through an interior wall before lodging into an exterior wall the same unit. Three guns were seized from the residence along with a large number of ammunition boxes. The Firearms License of the gun owner, [a 24 year old Southborough man], was later suspended by Shrewsbury Police where the license originated.

As a result of an investigation, Criminal Applications have been requested for [the suspect] charging him with Improper Storage of a Firearm,140/131L/A, and for [a 24 year old Boston man] Discharge of a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building, 269/12E.

Both will be summonsed to appear at a later date in Westborough District Court.
