This week, Southborough public school students will enjoy a 4½ day break. Even those without school kids will generally get extra days off. That means, it’s a great time to plan some fun outings. So, I thought I’d remind you about the the Southborough Library’s museum and park passes.

With the Library also taking a break, you can even take a pass with you for a long weekend.

Note: Be aware that the library will be closed Thanksgiving through the weekend and not reopen until Monday at 10:00 am. So reserve passes in advance and plan to pick them up by Wednesday evening.

Passes cover a variety of museums for all age groups. There are also passes for enjoying parks, gardens and wildlife. A few of the passes offer free admission, with the rest providing a substantial discount.

With 22 to choose from (and more seasonal ones at other times of the year), there’s something for everyone:

  • Boston Children’s Museum (Boston, MA)
  • deCordova Museum & Sculpture Park (Lincoln, MA)
  • Discovery Museum and Discovery Woods (Acton, MA)

(Please note that some passes need to be returned by 10 am the next day the Library is open. For Thanksgiving weekend, that would mean you just need to drop it in the box before the Library opens on Monday morning.)

You can find details and reserve passes through the library’s website pass manager. Or you can make reservations by calling 508-485-5031 during library hours.

*The pass program is courtesy of the Friends of the Southborough Library (which funded the majority of the passes), the Southborough Gardeners (providing the Tower Hill pass), and the few venues that donated passes (Mass State Parks, Mystic Aquarium, and Salem Witch Museum).
