Obituary: Constance “Connie” Maida, 88

Constance “Connie” Maida, 88, passed away March 29th, 2019 at her Mystic, CT home and surrounded by her family.

After her marriage to Lewis Maida in 1957, Connie left Winthrop for Southborough, MA. Connie was a well-known public figure in the Town of Southborough. For more than 2 decades in the Office of the Town Clerk Connie saw the residents of Southborough through elections, births, marriages and deaths. Connie often helped the public with genealogical research. Connie was kind and generous. A giving person who dedicated a great deal of her time to community events.

Family was the most important aspect of Connie’s life. Connie loved and honored her family every day of her life. In return, Connie was loved and honored by her family. 

Connie was the beloved wife of 50 years of the late Lewis Maida. Devoted mother of Claire Pleskun and her husband Victor of Mystic, CT and David Maida of Marlboro, MA. Loving grandmother of Kimberly Constance Maida and Taras Lewis Pleskun. Dear sister of Margaret MacDonald of New Hampshire, George Safrine of Maine, and the late Florence Dalton and Alfred Safrine of Winthrop, MA. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Maida Larkin and many nieces and nephews. Connie was the dedicated and loving daughter of the late George and Florence Safrine. Connie was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren until the end of her life. Connie’s loving embrace will be missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church in Winthrop, MA, 10 am on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with Connie’s children before the Mass at the church, 9 am.
