Seeking residents for Southborough “Talks”

If you’ve ever aspired to put on TED Talk, here’s your chance. A resident is seeking to organize a similar series to air through Southborough Access Media.

Here’s his recruitment pitch:

Hi, my name is Doug Peck and I am a long time Southborough resident. I currently co-host a cable show on Southborough Access Media (SAM) with an elder care attorney, called The Frank and Mary show. The goal of the show is to educated seniors, who wish to remain independent in the community, on what resources are available locally. I have an idea for new, Southborough focused show for everyone.

I’m sure many of you have watched Ted Talks on YouTube. They are short, no longer than 18 minutes, are on a huge variety of topics and the speakers are always passionate about what they talk about.

I want to do something similar but exclusively with Southborough residents. I believe there is a lot of interesting talent here and I want to develop a platform for others in town to learn about another treasure, our people.

This is not a platform to advertise your business, although your passion and your business may have commonalities. I would suggest that if anyone is interested that they go to https://tedtalks.com and view a few to get a feel for what they are about. Then, if you are interested, send me a short summary of what you want to do and why. If it sounds good, we’ll find a convenient time to meet and discuss it further. I anticipate the first taping to start in September.
My role is to find the people, help them with the presentation and introduce them at the start of their presentation. I will also work with the video people to make sure the set is appropriate for the presentation.

Southborough seniors with interesting life stories and who want to share them via video, are also encouraged to submit their information.

I look forward to hearing your ideas. You can email me at kindnessworksllc@gmail.com.
