Events this week: Storytimes, Book Club, “Bear Hunt”, and cupcake decorating contest (Updated)

Above: Many cities have teddies peeking out windows waiting to be spotted. But Friday is forecast (so far) to be a good day to pose some bears outside for a fun community bear hunt. (image: cover of book “We are Going on a Bear Hunt” by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury)

Here are highlights of what’s happening around town this week.

Organized by Southborough Community Outreach sponsored by Kindergroup. (Note: Even if you don’t participate in the live community read of Bear Hunt, there are plenty of videos online you can enjoy before heading out to “hunt”. For instance, you can see it performed by author Michael Rosen here or view an animated version of the book here.)

Monday, April 20, 2020

  • Patriot’s Day: Due to the state holiday, Town departments will be closed and there will be no remote schooling for K-12 Northborough-Southborough public schools.

* Originally, Chief Paulhus was scheduled to do last week’s Community Storytime reading and Fire Chief Achilles this week. I missed the news that the schedules flipped. Sorry for any confusion that caused.

Updated (4/14/20 4:54 pm): I just realized that the Annual Town Meeting placeholder in my calendar was imported into this post. (I glossed right over it.) Yes, as it had noted, a new date hasn’t yet been announced. But the Moderator confirmed last week that it will be postponed.
