Obituary: James A. McCaw, 87

James A. McCaw, 87, of Woodbridge VA died Thursday February 11, 2021 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Jean (Farnsworth) McCaw who died in 2004. He was born in Pawtucket, RI the son of the late William and Elsie (Calvert) McCaw. After living in Southborough for 37 years, he moved to Blufton, SC in 2006, and finally to Virginia in 2018.

Mr. McCaw was a United states Navy veteran of the Korean War and went on to work as the director of buildings and grounds for the Fay School in Southborough. He was a master electrician and served as the electrical inspector for the town of Southborough. He also was a volunteer member of the Southborough Fire and Police Departments. 

He was a longtime member of the Marmon Antique Auto Club, the Woodlawn Baptist Church in Pawtucket RI and the United Brethren Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Marlborough.

He is survived by his brothers Norman and Donald; his children Steven McCaw, Sandra McCaw Saari, Colleen McCaw, and Newell McCaw; their spouses Karen McCaw, Wayne Saari, and Hope McCaw; his grandchildren Kate McCaw, Molly and Jarron Withers, and Sarah and Alex McCaw.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic funeral arrangements will be planned for a later date under the direction of the Short & Rowe Funeral Home (www.shortandrowefuneralhome.com) of Marlborough.
