This weekend, MassDOT will replace the last two of the eight MassPike bridge spans being replaced this summer in/near Southborough. This time, sections of closed local roads will be on Parkerville Road (on the south side of town) and Flanders Road (just over the border in Westborough).
Impacts could cause heavier than usual weekend traffic on other local roads. Southville, River, and Cordaville Roads are on the official detour map (here). (Gilmore Road and Richards Road aren’t but may also see extra drivers seeking alternate routes given their locations.)
If all goes according to plan, this will be the last time local roads are closed for the Acceler-8 project this summer. (Next weekend is slated for repaving the spans, which shouldn’t impact town roads.)
Last weekend, the state crew replaced the eastbound span of the Cordaville Road bridge. It was the second span of that bridge replaced. Both spans of Woodland Road’s overpasses have also been replaced. Throughout the summer, @MassDOT has tweeted pics and videos of the #Acceler8 work in progress.
