Town of Southborough

  • Deputy Assessor (full time)

The Town of Southborough seeks a full time Deputy Assessor that would be responsible for assisting in the analytical, administrative, technical and field support to the Principal Assessor in the appraising and classification of all town properties. Position assists with the annual in-house revaluation and certification programs required by the Department of Revenue. Collaborates in the full analysis of all residential properties, fully responsible for analyzing and utilizing MLS (Multiple Listing Service) for town wide market analysis. The Deputy Assessor is the residential specialist for the Town assisting in setting annual residential values for certification with the DOR. Assists in the oversight of valuation models and cost tables as needed based on a thorough analysis of comparable sales data.

The candidate should have: a BA degree in business or related field; 3-5 years experience and training in the real estate assessing/appraisal field; a valid driver’s license; excellent oral/written communication skills and superior customer service ability; familiarity with CAMA systems and MS Office programs is preferred. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor designation and licensure by the State Board of Real Estate Appraisers is desirable. Light physical effort required while on site visits/inspecting properties, including maneuvering stairs and uneven terrain. Current salary range is $54,230-73,209.

  • Recording Clerk, Conservation Commission (part time)

The Town of Southborough is seeking applicants for a part-time Recording Clerk for the Conservation Commission. Position is responsible for attending in person Commission meetings [virtual on an as-needed basis determined by town officials], drafting meeting minutes for review, and making any requested changes. Successful candidate must be able to attend evening meetings every three weeks on Thursdays, typically beginning at 7pm, accurately take notes, and transcribe the minutes of the meeting for timely submission. Additional meetings (typically 2-3) may be required every year in addition to those regularly scheduled.

Candidate must be proficient in word processing, able to work independently, and be detail oriented. Experience with Conservation Commissions or applicable regulations and the State Public Records Law is preferred. The rate is $150 per meeting.

  • Library Associate, Southborough Public Library (part time) 

Under the direction of the Library Director, the library associate performs basic-to-moderate library services and professional work at the circulation desk. Provides public service assistance, shelving of library materials, administrative assistance, execute library programs, empties outdoor book drop, and fulfills other duties as needed. Knowledge of library software, computer skills, and previous library experience strongly recommended.

Minimum of 6 hours/weekly, required evening and weekend hours. Additional shifts periodically available. $18.73 per hour.

  • Library Page, Southborough Public Library (part time) 

Under the direction of the Library Director, the library page performs basic library services and professional work at the library and circulation desks. Provides public service assistance, shelving of library materials, routinely empties outdoor book drop, and fulfills other duties as needed. Knowledge of library software helpful. Computer skills and previous library experience preferred but not required.

6 hours/weekly, required evening and weekend hours. Additional shifts periodically available. $11.44 per hour.
