Girls can explore becoming Women in STEM – register for free by Friday

Above: For over a decade, middle school girls have enjoyed exploring a world of STEM based careers thanks to a local women’s club. There’s a virtual opportunity to do that again this spring. (2018 images previously cropped from Northborough Junior Women’s Club website)

If you want to encourage your 5th – 8th grade daughter(s) to explore a future in science, technology, engineering or math, take note.

The Northboro Junior Woman’s Club is putting on its annual STEM conference for girls. As in years past, they are inviting Southborough students to join them for the free event. This year, the gathering will be virtual.

The event is at the end of the month, but registration is due this Friday.

This year’s conference is on Saturday, March 26 from 8:45 am – 1:15 pm:

After an opening presentation, the girls will be able to attend four interactive career workshops. Presenters will represent fields such as Architecture, Nursing, Patent Law, Biotechnology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance, Forensics, Biology, Chemistry and Medicine. The presenters will explain what they do in their occupation and what sparked their interest in the field, share different tips on courses of study needed for their profession, and provide hands-on exploration/activities.

Brief Q&A sessions will take place between workshops

Thank you Northborough Junior Women’s club for organizing such a worthwhile event. And for free!
