The Week in Sports: Girls Hockey still in D2 tourney; two #2 New England athletes

As of this week, only one Gonk team is still vying to be a state champion with two teams falling out of the running. Meanwhile, two Titans just earned some big bragging rights in New England Championships over the weekend.

Indoor Track Coach Ken Morin tweeted:

Congratulations to Brogan Madden for his 2nd place finish in the high jump at the New England Championship Meet with a PR of 6-5!

And, congrats to Timothy Goddard for wrestling his way to the #2 slot in his weight class at the New England Interscholastic Tournament on Friday and Saturday. Rafael Knapp made it to the Quarter Finals for the 160 class.

In MIAA State championships, #10 ARHS Girls Ice Hockey, where #10 ARHS shutout #23 Matignon in the Division 2 Round of 32 games. ARHS Athletics shared one dramatic moment below:

Next, the Girls will head to Canton Ice Rink to play #7 Westwood in the Round of 16. That’s Wednesday, March 9th at 7:20 pm. Tickets must be purchased online through GoFan. (Adults $10 Students $5.)

In other Round of 32 games on Friday, Boys Hockey lost to Longmeadow 4-1 and Girls Basketball lost to upper seed Brookline 47-64. (You can read some details of the Basketball loss in TheSagOnline.)

ARHS Ski competed at the Alpine Ski State Championship at Wachusetts last week. The Girls team ranked #9 out of 17. You can see the Telegram’s photo highlights here and look for individual results here.
