Obituary: Brendan J. Quinn, 40

Brendan J. Quinn, 40, of Boston and formerly of Southborough, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022.

Brendan was raised in Southborough and graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 2000. He continued his undergraduate studies at Wake Forest and went on to earn his Ph.D in Pharmacology at the University of Illinois Chicago . Brendan was passionate and dedicated to the study and research of drug development for genetically driven diseases as a Principal Scientist at Dyne Therapeutics.

Brendan was an avid runner who completed numerous marathons throughout the country. On the weekends and after or before work, you could find him running through the streets of Boston. In addition to his love for running, Brendan was a faithful fan to all New England Sports teams and enjoyed attending Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox games. Brendan will always be remembered as the #1 Dave Matthews Band fan in the world having attended hundreds of live DMB concerts. He loved to cook and explore new restaurants, and was always willing to try new things. Brendan was known for always finishing his plate at Thanksgiving gatherings with his family.

Brendan was a loyal and caring friend who will always be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends – especially his niece and nephew, Molly and Rory Quinn.

Brendan is survived by his parents, Francis and Paula Quinn; his brother, Garrett Quinn and his wife Renee; Kelly O’Brien and his beloved dog, Chief. He is also survived by his niece and nephew; many loving and caring uncles, aunts, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

A memorial funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 8, at 10 am at St Matthew Church, 26 Highland Street, Southborough, MA. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brendan’s name to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation at www.myotonic.org or the American Association For Cancer Research.
