Today, the Southborough Fire Department posted tragic news. A 38 year old member of the SFD died suddenly on Friday. An obituary for Lisa Marie Thompson explains her death was caused by an unsuspected medical condition.

The SFD’s Facebook post shares:

Lisa Marie Thompson from SFD Facebook postOn behalf of the members of the Southborough Fire Department, it with a heavy heart and much difficulty that we announce the Active Duty Death of Probationary Firefighter, Lisa Marie Thompson. Firefighter Thompson was a full-time member of our department since November 15, 2021. In that short time, she demonstrated a sincere commitment to her fellow firefighters, the department, and to those we serve. Prior to Southborough, Firefighter Thompson was a call member with both the Medway and Sherborn Fire Departments. She will me missed deeply by us all.

Next week will mark seven years since the SFD experienced the sudden loss of another firefighter, Kenneth Strong.
