Holiday Gift collection drives in Southborough

In honor of Giving Tuesday, I’m running my annual roundup of holiday collection drives in town.

If you are donating gifts to any of the below drives, they must be new and unwrapped.

Winter Wishes

(This isn’t strictly about holiday gifts – but is certainly how some families will look to use at least some of the the support.)

gift cards (photo by Beth Melo)Southborough Youth & Family Services is collecting $20-$50 gift cards to help Southborough families in need through the winter and holiday season. (Popular requested stores are Target, Walmart, Amazon, Marshalls/TJ Maxx, and Stop & Shop.) Drop cards off at the agency’s office at 21 Highland Street by tomorrow — Wednesday, November 30th.

Alternatively, you can make a financial donation to the Friends of the Youth Commission (501c3) to support the program. (For details, see dedicated post.)

Project Just Because

Project Just Because SFD collectionThe Hopkinton based charity that supports families in need is seeking:

  • Toys, clothing, and sporting equipment for all ages.
  • For teens: toiletry gift sets, blankets, board games, fast food gift cards.

The Southborough Fire Department is again collecting gifts for the cause. Their collection box is in the vestibule at the Public Safety Building, 32 Cordaville Road. The deadline is Tuesday, December 13.

Girl Scouts Sing-along — Event organizers will collect donations at the the annual community sing along outside of the Community House this Friday, December 2nd at 6:30 pm.

Toys for TotsToys for Tots 

Since 1947, Marines have been collecting gifts for underprivileged children. Gifts can be for ages anywhere from 1-16 years old.

The Southborough Senior Center is holding its annual collection for the drive. That’s at 9 Cordaville Road, with open hours Mon-Fri 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. The deadline to donate is Friday, December 16.
