Obituary: Paul K. Ferguson, 64

Paul K. Ferguson, 64, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 30, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Maria (Guadagnoli) Ferguson; his daughters Caitlin and Sarah Ferguson; his sister Lorraine Weinberg; his brothers Don Ferguson and Fred Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was born on January 4, 1959, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Frank and Mitsuko (Yoshi) Ferguson. He grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts and graduated from Lexington High School in 1974. He then attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated in 1981 with a degree in Social Thought and Political Economy.

After college, Paul started his career in Information Technology at GTE where he eventually met the love of his life, Maria (Guadagnoli) Ferguson. He then decided to transition into the business world and spent much of his career investing in and working at early-stage startup companies in the minerals processing and advanced materials industries. Aside from his work, Paul was also passionate about traveling, cooking, and going on hikes with his beloved dog Lake. Paul will be missed dearly for his hilariously dry sense of humor, quick wittedness, fondness for rock ‘n roll music, and life-long political activism.

A private ceremony will be held with Paul’s immediate family members and closest friends. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Charles River Medical Associates and the staff of VNA Care for their constant and attentive treatment and support.

In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make a donation to the Center for Esophageal and Gastric Cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Center.
