D&D Series at the Library

Starting January 6th, the Library is launching a bi-weekly Dungeons & Dragons program for teens, with help from a "Master" to get them going.

This fall, the Southborough Library brought in a Dungeon & Dragons Master to introduce players to the game. Now they are bringing him back and inviting anyone ages 12 and older to join them for three special sessions to help launch players’ D&D adventures.

The series starts with a character creation session a week from Saturday.

D&D series flyers with FriendsPre-registration is required, and space is limited. The sessions will be held at the Library bi-weekly on Saturday afternoons from 2:00 – 4:00 pm (in the Eaton Meeting Room downstairs.)

The free series is sponsored by The Friends of the Southborough Library.

The Library is hoping that interested participants will register for all three sessions – Character Creation on January 6th, and the first two game playing sessions that follow.

If you somehow aren’t familiar, D&D is a table top fantasy game. Players each take on roles and are led through an adventure comprised of a combination of choices, and chance (based on roles of the dice).

The game became very popular in the early 80’s. While there has always been a continuing fanbase, there has been a recent resurgence in popularity.

In the Character Creation session:

Come create a character for your future Dungeons & Dragons campaign with the guidance of a professional Dungeon Master for Quests at Hand. Character sheets and informative guide books will be available for use.

In the playing sessions on January 20th & February 3rd, players can either use the character designed at the previous session or another “pre-made character”. They’ll begin playing a campaign in Session 1, led by the Dungeon Master, and continue the game in Session II.

If the series is successful, players will be well versed enough to continue playing future games without the professional master in gatherings hosted by the Library.

Updated (3/8/24 2:49 pm): The Library is continuing the series of one shot campaigns in monthly meetings led by Master Nick this spring. Registration and use of a level 3 or pre-made character is required.
