ARHS Sports Update

This week has been full of special tourneys, so I’m updating on the Titans’ latest results and what’s up next.

Last night, Algonquin’s co-op Girls Ice Hockey team beat Natick 4-0 in the first round of Medway’s New Years Classic. The win elevated their record to 3-1. Tonight, they’ll face off against King Philip Regional at 7:30 pm. Though listed as the home team, they’ll be on the road to battle for the tourney title.

Wednesday night, ARHS Boys Ice Hockey competed in the first round of the annual Daily News Cup tournament. MetroWest Daily News recapped:

Hopkinton came close to letting a 5-0 lead slip away before holding off defending champ Algonquin, 5-4. . .

To begin the evening, Hopkinton had trouble putting away Algonquin, which pulled within a goal with 4 minutes, 22 seconds remaining. But with the goalie pulled, the Titans nearly drew even during lengthy scrum near the Hiller crease.

You can read more details in their article here. You can also see video highlights on twitter captured by their reporter Tim Dumas.

The tourney loss updated the Boys record to 1-3-1. They’ll be playing Hudson in tomorrow’s consolation game.

Some members of the Girls and Boys Indoor track teams performed well at Wednesday’s MSTCA Boston Holiday Challenge. (You can see the detailed results here.) And at yesterday’s MSTCA Distance Classic, Miles Lipka won the Pentathlon High Jump. (You can see the teams’ results here.)

Boys Basketball lost in a squeaker to Grafton on Wednesday, 46-47, updating their record to 2-3. This afternoon, they’ll play Fitchburg. (Tickets are sold here.)

Girls Basketball enters a tourney in Hopkinton this afternoon with Milford, Hopkinton, and Westborough. The second round will play out on Saturday. And Wrestling is competing with a dozen schools in Franklin’s invitational today and tomorrow.
