Algonquin sports highlights from last week include Titans Boys and Girls leading the packs at the Division 1 District E Championships on Saturday.

The Telegram reports:

Joseph Lamburn won the mile (4:28.35), Donald Dumont won the long jump (183-6) and Aidan Ruiz claimed the 2 mile (10:10.1) as Algonquin edged Wachusett for the team title, 106-100, at Shepherd Hill. . .

Olivia LaBella won the 100 hurdles (15:35) and the 400 hurdles (1:03.45) and Tanvi Mehta captured the 800 (2:23.57) to help Algonquin win the team title with 136.25 points at Shepherd Hill.

This weekend, both teams are scheduled to compete in the League Championships

Gonk Girls Tennis is now 9-4 and on a 5 game winning streak. The team beat Nashoba 4-1, Shrewsbury 3-2, Wachusett 4-1, and Bromfield 4-1. They moved up to #9 for the MIAA Division 1 Power Rankings even before their latest win.

Boys Tennis won 3 of its 4 games last week. The Boys beat Nashoba 3-2 (home) and 4-1 (away), and Hopedale 4-1, but lost to Shrewsbury 0-5. They now stand at 4-10 and moved up to in the Division 2 rankings two spots to #36.

Girls Rugby is still undefeated and remains ranked #2 for D1. The team’s record is 4-0 after beating Brookline 52-7 last week. Boys Rugby lost its match last week against Blue Hills 47-5. They now stand at 3-2 and slipped two spots in the D2 rankings to #7.

Baseball lost to Leominster 2-0 then beat Westborough 8-1. Their record is 5-8 and they moved up one notch in rankings to #15 for D1.

Softball moved in the other direction, extending its losing streak to five in a row. The team lost to North Middlesex 13-5, Marlborough 18-14, and Notre Dame Academy 8-6. Their rank dipped one slot to #42 for D1 and they have a record of 4-8.

Girls Lacrosse improved its record to 9-5 and rank to #24. The Girls beat Medway 13-5 And Nashoba 6-4, before losing to Acton-Boxborough 14-5.

Boys Lacrosse lost all three of its games last week. The Boys were beaten by Westfield 8-3, Nashoba 10-7, and Pinkerton 6-4. They now stand at 8-6 and fell one slot in the D2 rankings to #20.

Boys Volleyball lost all three of its games last week. They are at 4-9 after losing to Leominster 3-2, North Middlesex 3-1, and Doherty 3-0. Yet, they improved in the D1 Rankings, moving up to #47 from 50.

The co-op Girls Golf team suffered two losses last week before earning another win. The Girls were beaten by Notre Dame Academy 12-36 and Wachusett 16-38, then beat Auburn 30.5-23.5 They now stand at 9-4.
