This weekend is another good one for music lovers. Three regional choral groups with Southborough members will be holding concerts in neighboring towns.
Though some performances overlap, its possible to time it to attend concerts by all three groups!
The Northborough Area Community Chorus will perform “All That… & Jazz” this Sunday, May 4th at 3:00 pm, at Algonquin Regional High School.
The concert is promoted as featuring Jazz, R&B, 70’s and more. Tickets available online and at the door for $5 each online through today or at the door (cash only).
Westborough Community Chorus will perform “an exciting selection” of favorites from Disney movies. The Chorus invites the public to “Be Our Guest” at one of the three concerts tonight through Sunday:
Children of all ages are welcome, and costumes are encouraged!
The concerts will be held:
- Friday, May 2nd at 7:30 pm
- Saturday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm
- Sunday, May 4th at 2:00 pm
(Tonight’s concert doesn’t compete with either of the other groups’ timing.)
The family-friendly performances are held at the Gibbons Middle School, 20 Fisher St., Westborough.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors/children/students. For more details, see my dedicated post.
Assabet Valley Mastersingers’ final concert of the season spring concert “If We Come Together – Songs of Hope and Aspiration” will take place 8:00 pm at Whitcomb Middle School (25 Union St., Marlborough).
The large chorus, with soloists and backed by an orchestra, will perform the contemporary pieces Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass” and Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare”, “framed by shorter, socially resonant works”:
- Christopher Tin’s “Walayo Yamoni”, a joyful Swahili rainmaking prayer
- Jake Runestad’s “We Can Mend the Sky”, based on poetry by a young Somali immigrant and full of hope for a more inclusive future.
Tickets are $20 per student/senior and $25 for general admission
