Monday, May 12, 2025

  • Absentee Voting (8:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Town House: Eligible voters who can’t participate in the Annual Town Election in-person on Tuesday can vote absentee at the Town House during these hours. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point. For details, see related post.

  • Annual Town Election (6:30 am – 8:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School, 49 Parkerville Rd: The annual election of candidates running for Southborough Town offices, plus a ballot question to exclude the debt for the Neary School Building project. For details, see related posts.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme. No registration required. For details, see related post.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • 2nd & 3rd Grade Book Group (4:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Monthly Book Club with discussion and activities. Please email Kim at kivers@southboroughma.com to register.
  • Shelf Help (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: A community book discussion group run by SYFS with the Southborough Library about the Healing Power of Human Connection. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Poetry Workshop (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Bring in five copies of original poetry to share. The group will provide supportive feedback. If you don’t have a poem, come anyway and share your insights. (Meets twice monthly.)
  • How to Build Strong Connections & Healthy Boundaries with Young People (7:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Fay School, 23 Middle Rd: As part of its Ideas&Insights series, Fay School is bringing in Dr. Brooklyn Raney to talk about her book “One Trusted Adult: How to Build Strong Connections & Healthy Boundaries with Young People”.   • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Elder Law Advice (10:00 – 10:45 am) @ phone or zoom: Southborough seniors can sign up for a free 15 minute session of individualized legal advice from an Elder Law attorney. For details, see the Senior Center’s newsletter, p. 9.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (1:15 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: This is a free series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Beginner Birding for Teens (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Come learn more about the local birds in your yard and how to start identifying them. To register to attend, click here. (This event is part of the library’s Youth Nature Club for 6th-12th graders. Learn more about that here.)
  • SOLF Annual Meeting (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Community House, 28 Main St: The public is invited to attend Southborough Open Land Foundation’s annual meeting. It will include a slide show highlighting SOLF properties and activities, and wine and cheese social hour. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Read to a Dog (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Children ages 5+ can sign up to read a short book of their choosing to Perla, a certified therapy dog. Please by emailing kivers@southboroughma.com.
  • SCAC Grant Reception (7:00 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Join the Southborough Cultural Arts Council’s reception for and celebration of this year’s grant recipients. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Virtual Author Talk (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “On Writing a Brilliant, Dark, and Diabolical Thriller with Author Liann Zhang”. This is part of the Southborough Library’s virtual series featuring bestselling, award-winning, and highly acclaimed authors from around the world. For details, see related post.

  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. For details, see related post.

  • Kids Jam (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Newborns through preschoolers are invited to dance and sing. No registration necessary. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see related post.

  • Southborough Gardeners Plant Sale (8:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ where: The annual spring fundraiser in which Southborough Gardeners sell a variety of plants from members’ gardens including annuals, perennials, and hanging baskets. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Mini Art Show (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: The opening reception. As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, the public was encouraged to bring home mini canvases and return painted ones to display at the library. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Trottier’s Peter Pan (2:00 – 3:30pm) @ Trottier Middle School, 49 Parkerville Rd: Middle school students will perform the classic children’s story. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Catherine Weber Art Opening (6:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Apothecary Artists, 11 Main St: For details, click here.
