Obituary: Eulalie Louise Allen, 94

Eulalie Louise Allen, known to most as “Lee,” age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, in Plaistow, NH, at the home of her daughter.

She was born on December 21, 1931, in Millinocket, Maine, the daughter of the late Edward and Henrietta (McElroy) Davenport.

Lee was the youngest of six children and was raised in Newton, Massachusetts. Following high school, she worked as a veterinarian’s assistant at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston. She later began working at Raytheon, where she met the love of her life, Gilbert Allen. The two were married in 1951 and went on to raise six children together, first in Southborough, Massachusetts, before moving to Kingston, New Hampshire in July of 1978.

While raising her family, Lee was a devoted homemaker and, during some years, also worked evenings. Over time, she was employed as a wire wrapper for both Honeywell and Data General.

Lee was a woman of strong faith and Christian values and was a former member of Kingston Congregational Church. She enjoyed painting in both oils and acrylics, expressing her creativity through her artwork.

Above all else, Lee’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 20. In earlier years, Lee and Gilbert cherished every opportunity to gather their family together, whether for birthdays, holidays, camping trips, or backyard cookouts—moments that created lasting memories for generations.

In addition to her parents, Lee was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gilbert Allen, who passed away in 2014, as well as her five siblings.

She is survived by her children, Sue Berube; Lorrie Allen; Bob Allen and his wife Ana; DeeDee Tarshis and her husband Philip; Tammie Chase and her husband Bob; and Jim Allen and his wife Kristen; along with her 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and generations of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine Street, Exeter, NH. Family and friends are invited to visit from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Kingston, NH.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee’s memory, honoring her love of animals, to the New Hampshire SPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885 or at http://nhspca.org
