Organizers of the Town’s annual camp scholarship program are seeking to raise $50,000 based on increased community needs and rising costs.
Some readers will already have learned about the fundraising effort in the post I ran earlier this week about the Food Truck Festival kicking off next week. But many of you may have skipped that (either because you don’t plan to attend or you already know enough about the event).
As I previously explained, the camp scholarship program is run by Southborough Youth & Family Services to aid Southborough families in financial need. Funds for the program are made possible by donations from the tax deductible non-profit that supports SYFS initiatives — Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission.
The public is invited to make direct donations here at anytime. (Or scroll down for more ways to pay.) But if you’re planning to attend the Food Truck Festival, there’s also a donation option that could essentially cut the net cost of your donations in half.
For years now, Main Street Bank has supported a fundraiser spotlighted by the Rotary Club of Southborough at their Food Truck Festival. This year, Rotary chose the campership program (for the second time).
For every $20 donated to Cash4Camperships at Rotary’s table, donors will receive a $10 voucher that can be used to make a purchase at any of the food trucks.
Rotary Club 2026 Co-President Joyce Fukami explained why Rotary is supporting the cause:
With town budget cuts to Southborough Youth & Family Services and the rising cost of food and fuel, more families are struggling. Without community support at the Rotary Food Truck event, this may be the last year the Southborough Youth and Family Services can offer affordable day camp for families in the summer when after school programs are unavailable.
At the festival, the Friend’s of SYC will have their own table where you can find out more about the Cash4Camperships program. (You can also learn more about all of SYFS’ needs based programs here.)
The festival will run on Wednesday afternoons – evenings, May 20 – June 10 from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. To learn more about the event, click here.
