This weekend, the Southborough Golf Club will open its annual fundraiser for the fight against ALS. The fundraiser will take place from Saturday, October 10 through Monday, October 12.
To make sure you get a chance to take part, you may want to book your tee times in advance.
Once again, the club will automatically donate $10 from each player’s greens fees to the SHIFTSTRONG foundation, working to “Raising awareness, funds, and critical resources for ALS families:
Columbus Day Weekend Golf FORE ALS @ Southborough Golf Club
Looking for something to do this weekend? Head to Southborough Golf Club to Golf in honor of those currently fighting ALS, and those who we have lost along the way. Southborough Golf Club will be generously donating $10 from each round of golf played between October 10th and 12th. We are incredibly grateful for their willingness to host this amazing event, and for their support of our mission. We hope to see you on the links!
To book your time, use the club’s online reservations here or call 508-460-0946. (Note: Your tee time must be October 10-12 for fees to be donated to the fundraiser.)

Anyone who can’t attend, or would like to give extra, can make a donation here.
The fundraiser was launched 7 years ago to honor the memory of late community members John Wilson and Brian Shifrin. You can read more about Wilson’s and Shifrin’s roles in relation to the golf course in my 2019 post announcing the 1st annual fundraiser.
In prior years, the Town (or a volunteer representative) coordinated the fundraiser with the Southborough Golf Club’s management company to collect donations for the charity ALS One. (Last year, that appeared to be slipping between the cracks — but a nor’easter turned the weekend into a washout anyway.) This year, the non-profit founded by Shifrin’s family, is coordinating with New England Golf Corp help continue the annual fundraiser for the cause. The $10 fees will be donated to the SHIFSTRONG ALS Foundation.
On their website the non-profit promotes:
SHIFSTRONG ALS Foundation is a Southborough-based nonprofit started by the Shifrin family after Brian Shifrin’s ALS diagnosis and passing in 2019. We turn that experience into local action for families living with ALS.
What We Do
We host fundraising and awareness events, help families connect with resources and equipment support, and create spaces where ALS caregivers and supporters can share practical help and lived experience. Our Vision
We want every ALS family to have somewhere to turn for support, information, and community so they do not have to face the disease alone.
