Today kicks off Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM). Not coincidentally, this morning the Southborough Library is giving away grab and go “Mini Art Kits”.
The opportunity is through Wednesday, May 14th — but only as long as supplies last.
Library staff hope that patrons who take them will bring back their end results for an Art Show later in the month. The free offer is open to all ages and skill levels.
The Mini Art Kits program is one of the ways that the library is collaborating with Southborough Youth & Family Services to supporting its MHAM efforts throughout May.
(If you stop by the library today/tomorrow, you can also pick up a green ribbon to take part in this Friday’s Southborough Goes Green event. And you can check out other upcoming activities here.)
As for the kits, the library promotes:
Boost your creativity and well-being with our Mini Art Kits for Mental Health. . .
Each kit includes creative supplies to help you unwind, express yourself, and take a mindful break. Perfect for all ages. Stop by and pick one up while supplies last!
Each kit will include a mini canvas and easel, along with paint and a paintbrush.
While grabbing a kit doesn’t require you to bring your art back, hopefully you’ll be happy enough with your work to want to.
On Saturday, May 17th, the library will open an exhibition of the mini art pieces attendees made from the kits. A reception will be held from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with complimentary snacks.
The canvases will then be dispersed throughout the library, remaining on display through the remainder of the month.
The program and May 17th reception is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Southborough Library.
