Next month will be a busy one for supporters of the library. The Friends of the Southborough Library are asking the community to save some important dates and plan ahead!1
In June, we’ll be hosting a special Author talk with Southborough resident Meredith O’Brien. That will be partnered with your Annual Meeting for members. Plus we’ll be holding the annual Summer Book Sale and a new fundraiser, the “Community Yard Sale”.
Here’s an overview:
All of these events will take place at the Southborough Library, 25 Main Street.
Author Talk with Meredith O’Brien &
Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Library
Wednesday, June 4th, 7:00 – 8:45 pm
The Friends welcome members and the public to join us for our Annual Meeting featuring special guest, Southborough author Meredith O’Brien.
She’ll be talking about her latest novel, the darkly comedic Louie on the Rocks about a dysfunctional family dysfunction and heated political divisions.
That will be followed by a Q&A where she’ll also take questions about her other books and experiences as a published author. (Stay tuned for more details!)
The meeting will include refreshments, brief highlights of Friends’ accomplishments over the past year, and an update on upcoming plans — including how members/volunteers can support our fundraising and outreach efforts. Plus, we’ll have our very quick annual election.
Annual Summer Book Sale
Saturday, June 7th, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
The annual sale offers great deals on books to stock up for your summer reading (paperbacks and hard covers in all genres, for all ages). You can also buy DVD’s, CD’s, video console games and more.
As always, we’ll offer one free book per child!
And if you bring a Friends’ tote that you purchased at a previous sale, you can take advantage of our “Stuff a Bag” sale. There will also be goodies for sale.
Proceeds are used by the Friends to help fund museum passes, programming and much more.
Community Yard Sale
Saturday, June 21st, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm (rain date June 28th)
Save the date to shop for great deals at tables in the library’s parking lot. Or make a plan to sell your own stuff!
For potential sellers: Registration is open to use the event to hold your own mini yard sale. All you need to do is bring your merchandise to sell and the Friends will supply a 10′ space and table – and publicity. $25 per table for early bird registration.
