A week from today, Algonquin will hold its annual holiday music festival with art and treats. The public is invited to attend the big concert featuring school instrumental and vocal groups.

While I’m sharing those details, I’ll also highlight a holiday part scheduled right before the event, and remind about other student concerts taking place tonight and in two days.

ARHS Holiday Concert

ARHS holiday concert flyerHoliday music will be performed by Algonquin’s Choral groups, Orchestra, and Jazz Ensemble I. The fun starts at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, December 16th.

Every year, the evening opens in the ARHS Rotunda with performances by their a cappella groups and small chamber groups in the lobby and rotunda area of the auditorium. There student art will be on display and light refreshments available.

The main concert is slated to start at 7:00 pm in the auditorium with the orchestra, Concert Choir, Camerata Singers, Chamber Choir and Jazz Ensemble I.

Towards the end of the concert, all alum of the music program are encouraged to join the orchestra and chorus on the stage for their traditional performance of “White Christmas”.

Members of Northborough Southborough Music Association can attend for free. (If you would like to learn about becoming a NSMA member, click here.) For non-members, tickets should be purchased online here. The prices are $5 per adult and $3 per student/senior citizen.

Southborough schools’ Winter Concerts

ARHS NAHS holiday party flyerAlgonquin’s National Art Honor Society is promoting a holiday party timed to end right before the holiday concert.

NAHS is hosting the party in Algonquin’s cafeteria from 5:00 – 6:30 pm on the 16th. The fun includes hot chocolate, baked goods, ornament decorating, and face painting. Admission is $10 per person.

Southborough schools’ Winter Concerts

Today — Tuesday, December 9th — is the big day for Neary School’s Orchestra and Band. The 4th and 5th graders are currently performing their Winter Concert for schoolmates at a school assembly up the hill at Trottier. That’s a dress rehearsal for tonight’s concert for families.

The evening performance is 7:00 pm in the Trottier Middle School auditorium.

On Thursday, December 11th, it’s Trottier’s turn to use their stage. The Big Band, Orchestra, and 6th-8th grade bands will perform in the school’s instrumental Winter Concert. That’s 7:00 pm.

(The choral groups for Neary and Trottier already performed their joint winter concert last week.)
