If you enjoy hearing a good (true) story told well, you’ll want to book a ticket for an upcoming event hosted by The Southborough History & Arts Center.
The event produced by Southborough’s Catherine Weber and featuring StorySLAM champs is the second Moth-style event in town .
For readers who aren’t familiar with those terms — the podcast and competitions feature people recalling an experience from their own lives, in front of a live audience. As The Moth puts it, “stories are true, as remembered by the storyteller”.
“What We Carry: A night of true stories, in person.” will take place on Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 pm.
The program is produced by Southborough resident and 3-time Moth StorySLAM champion, Catherine Weber. (Some readers may be familiar with her style from the first event in May or from a nearby event in 2024. You may even have even taken one of her storytelling classes through Apothecary Studio or SHAC.)
For this event, Weber has recruited five other “notable Moth GrandSLAM winners from the Boston-area” to share the mic with her: Julie Baker, Joyce Crieger, Drew Forster, Ajay G, and Linda Grosser. Plus, “some community tellers” will take part.
During intermission, attendees can “mingle with the storytellers” while enjoying refreshments.
Tickets are $40 each or $35 for members of the Southborough History & Arts Center. To purchase tickets, click here.
On Facebook, Southborough History & Arts Center posted about the event Weber produced in May with a different group of storytellers:
