Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend.

Friday evening, May 1, 2026

  • Culture & Music Festival (6:00 – 8:00pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School, Black Box Theater, 79 Bartlett St, Northborough: NSBORO Schools is hosting this free event to explore diverse cultures in the Northborough and Southborough communities. It will include music, dance, art and more. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Woodward SOS Glow Dance (6:30 – 8:30pm) @ where: For Woodward students accompanied by one adult guest. Fun will include a DJ, dancing, games, karaoke, and glow in the dark fun. (It looks like the deadline has passed for purchasing tickets to this fundraiser.) For details, click here.
  • Live Music with SoulShaker (8:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The house Rock & Blues band will perform. For details, click here

Saturday, May 2, 2026

  • Read to a Dog (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Kids ages 5+ can read to a therapy dog. Registration is required. For details, see related post.
  • Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Semi-monthly program for ages 18+ to drop in and work on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting. All levels are welcome but no formal instruction will be given.
  • Common Street Concerts (7:30 pm) @ Pilgrim Church Fellowship Hall, 15 Common St: The concert will feature Boston vocalists Five O’Clock Shadow. For details, see dedicated post.
  • SYSA Night Out with the Revs (7:30 pm) @ Gillette Stadium: The New England Revolution is offering a free ticket to every Southborough Youth Soccer Association player. For details, click here.

Sunday, May 3, 2026

  • Touch-A-Truck (10:00 am – 12:00 pm; Sensory friendly time 10:00 – 10:30 am) @ Woodward School parking lot, 28 Cordaville Rd: The free event hosted by Southborough Rec allows families to explore big trucks, engines, and other “exciting vehicles”. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Thrifty Pop-Up Market (10:00am – 2:00pm) @ Aurora Aesthetics and Wellness Center, 54 Central St: Shopping event with clothing, designer shoes, gently used clothing, vintage house hold items.. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Family Yoga in the Park (12:00 – 1:00pm) @ in front of Neary School’s outdoor stage, 53 Parkerville Rd: Registration is required for this free outdoor yoga session for all ages and skill levels. The event is sponsored by Southborough Youth & Family Services and Southborough Recreation. For details, click here.

Monday, May 4, 2026

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. (Dependent on weather conditions.) Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme (and sometimes a couple of songs). This week’s readings will highlight connection and empathy in support of Mental Health Awareness Month. No registration required.
  • Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point.
  • NSBORO Superintendent Office Hours (4:00 – 5:00pm) @ Woodward School, 28 Cordaville Rd: In-person office hours provide a time and space for parents and guardians to connect with the Superintendent about questions, feedback, or concerns about their student or their experience with The Public Schools of Northborough and Southborough.

Tuesday, May 5, 2026

  • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme (and sometimes a couple of songs). This week’s readings will highlight connection and empathy in support of Mental Health Awareness Month. No registration required.
  • Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Drop in Legos (3:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children are invited to build with Legos and display their creations in the Children’s Room. Legos will be provided. Parents or caregivers must stay with children.
  • Geeks Who Drink Trivia Night (8:00 – 10:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: Weekly Trivia game night with prizes. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. (Dependent on weather conditions.) Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
  • Nature Story Time (1:30 – 2:15 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: This free program for 2-5 year olds requires pre-registration. The monthly story and craft series is put on by the Dept of Conservation & Recreation. This month’s focus is learning about who is crunching and munching in the tall grass.   • TrailBlazers meeting (3:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: The group for active seniors holds a monthly meeting to plan upcoming activities. Any seniors interested in helping or learning more are welcome to join them. For more details, see related post.
  • Hands on Nature: Our Pollinators (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Registration is required for this free program run Hands on Nature for ages 5–10 years old. Learn about pollinators and finish with an activity. For details, see related post.
  • Meditations for the Nations (4:30 – 5:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s Church Parish Hall, 27 Main St: The church invites community members troubled by “division, unrest, and fear in our country” to share concerns with others and take part in guided and silent meditation. The bi-weekly program is open to all. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Woodward Arts Night (5:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Woodward School: The program for Woodward families celebrates students’ work, featuring an art exhibits and and a musical and literary showcase.
  • Social Host Law talk for parents (6:30 – 7:30 pm) @ Algonquin Regional High School library (and YouTube): Northborough and Southborough parents and caregivers are invited to attend (or stream) an info session on  legal liabilities related to parties with underage drinking.   • Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)
  • Friends of the Library Meeting (7:30 – 8:45 pm) @ zoom: Monthly meeting of board members and volunteers to discuss funding library requests and planning for upcoming fundraisers.   • Senior Center Program Registration opens (10:00 am): The window will open to register for the Senior Center’s May & June programs. Registration can take place in person at the center or speaking with someone over the phone (not by leaving a message). For details, see dedicated post.
  • Mah Jongg (10:00 am) @ Southborough Senior Center: The weekly program would love new players to join. Feel free to stop by to watch or talk to one of the players to see if you would be interested. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
  • Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: A weekly program for ages 0-2 years with their parents/caregivers. Each session will include puppets and music. No registration required. This week’s readings will highlight connection and empathy in support of Mental Health Awareness Month.
  • Young Scientists STEM Beginnings (1:15 – 2:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: This is the first meeting of the free 5-part weekly series for children, ages 3-6 to learn STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts through hands-on activities, story time and simple experiments.   • Virtual Author Talk (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “On Courage, Turmoil, and the Transformative Power of Love with Marjan Kamali”.   • Rhyme Time (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: Weekly drop-in program for babies and toddlers (and parents/caregivers). Join Ms. Jenny for rhymes, songs, and more fun.

  • NECC 5K Walk/Run for Autism (8:30 am – 1:00 pm) @ Neary School’s campus, 53 Parkerville Rd: The annual 5K for The New England Center for Children to support autism research and education. The walk/run is followed by a cookout. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Early Learning Center Open House & Animal Adventures Show (9:00 – 10:45 am) @ Fay School: Fay’s open house for its Early Learning Center preschool runs from 9-10, followed by a the opportunity to touch visiting animals from Animal Adventures.   • Early Childhood Fair (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Finn School gym, 60 Richards Road: The Northborough-Southborough Preschool program is hosting this event for families with children 0-5yrs, to learn about resources.
