Sign up or Save the Dates for Rec’s free community summer fun

Sign up for next week's patriotic Family Fun Run. And mark your calendars for parties and concerts that don't require registration.

Southborough Recreation has a lot of free fun in store for the summer, especially for the month of July. They’ll be kicking things off with a Fun Run next week, followed by Block Parties and Outdoor Concerts. The festivities will be capped off with the annual Summer Nights festival in late August.

Family Fun Run

Family Fun Run flyerWednesday, July 1st, 6:00 pm
Neary School, 53 Parkerville Road

Get a head start on celebrating the Nation’s 250th anniversary of Independence Day.

Families and community members of all ages are invited to enjoy a free, untimed, patriotic themed fun run. Runners can choose routes 1.5 miles – 3 miles.

If you sign up by this Sunday (June 28th), your family will also enjoy free ice cream after your run. (If you miss the deadline, you can still buy ice cream at the event.)

Rec promotes:

Kick off summer and the 4th of July holiday with Southborough Recreation’s first-ever Family Fun Run. . .

Runners are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. Prizes awarded for most patriotic wear

The running routes start and end in front of the outdoor stage on the fields at Neary School.

Participants are encouraged to hang out afterwards to enjoy the social gathering with food trucks.

Registration is required (by one adult from each family). Click here.

2026 Summer Block Parties flyerSummer Block Parties 2026

Two Thursday nights in July, 6:00 pm
Finn School playground, 60 Richards Road

No registration is required to enjoy these family friendly drop-in parties. They’re scheduled for July 9th and July 23rd.

The fun will feature:

  • Crafts
  • Face painting or temporary tattoo station
  • Games
  • Music with dance contests
  • Police/Fire will potentially be there
  • Visits from the Red Sox Mascot, Wally (the Green Monster)!

While the above fun is free, you’ll want to bring your wallet to enjoy ice cream from Uhlmann’s food truck.

Rec asked me to thank sponsors Eagle Leasing and the Southborough Community Fund for making the series possible.

Summer Concert Series 2026

Two Thursday nights in July, 6:00 pm
Outdoor stage, Neary School, 53 Parkerville Road

No registration is required to enjoy the free summer concerts. And, bonus, there’s more free ice cream!

This time the Friends of Southborough Recreation are sponsoring free ice cream from the Trombetta’s Farm ice cream truck to everyone who attends.

The free concert series is also co-sponsored by the Southborough Community fund.

Rec is promoting that they’ve shifted the evenings to Thursday nights this summer to get the community’s long weekends started early “with some extremely talented and popular local bands.”

This year’s band lineup is:

  • July 16 — Disco Lemonade
  • July 30 — Carolyn Rae & The Rumors

It sounds like they also hope to have other food trucks on-site this summer (not just ice cream). But I’ll update readers on that closer to the concerts.

Summer Nights 2026

Summer Nights 2026Saturday, August 22nd, 5:00 – 9:00 pm
Neary School campus, 53 Parkerville Road

As always, the end of summer festival is a drop-in event, with a fun of free activities in store, including fireworks.

This year, the fireworks display is fully sponsored by Friends of Southborough Recreation.

Rec is also seeking other sponsors for more fun at the festival. If you’re interested in learning more, email Recreation@Southboroughma.gov.

I’ll post more details closer to the event. For now, Rec promotes:

Join Southborough Recration in our first themed, Summer Nights event
We are heading out to sea with local, Yacht Rock Band, Below Deck, in full nautical attire.

We want to see blue stripes, sailor hats and boat shoes as we dance and sing the night away featuring all of your favorite yacht rock jams.

Our designated food court area will host a variety of food truck options for dinner and dessert available for purchase. Stay tuned for our full line up and plan to come hungry!

If you’re unfamiliar with the Town’s annual end-of-summer bash, you can check out my post promoting last year’s fun here.
