Here are highlights of what’s happening around (or related to) our town this weekend through next weekend (which is a long one for NSBORO Schools).

Friday evening, September 11, 2026

• Woodward SOS Welcome Back Picnic (5:00 – 7:00 pm) @ Woodward School lawn: Families of Woodward students are invited to this social kickoff for the start of the year that will also raise funds for Woodward’s SOS (Southborough Organization for Schools). Bring dinner or purchase from the pizza and ice cream trucks. Expect the fun to face painting.
• Opening Art Reception (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Apothecary Artists
  11 Main St: The opening reception for the “Convergence” exhibit featuring the works of the three studio owners — Emily VanNort, Chelsea (Bradway) Steele, and Patrick Steele. For details, see dedicated post.
• Live Music with Crash & Burn (8:00 – 11:00 pm) @ Owen O’Leary’s, 50 Turnpike Rd: The rock band will perform “killer covers and high-energy tunes”. For details, click here.

• Yoga on the Trails (9:00 – 10:00am) @ field off Parkerville Rd: The Southborough Trails Committee is sponsoring a series of free monthly outdoor yoga sessions (for adults only) with Emma Bartolini. Registration is required. For details, see dedicated post.
• Kindergroup’s Family Playground Playdate (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Finn School, 60 Richards Rd: The cooperative playgroup for families with 0-5 year olds, is inviting returning and potential new members to join them. Meet other local families and learn about Kindergroup while kids enjoy popsicles and pouches on the playground. For details, see dedicated post.

• Cub Scout info session (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Finn School Pavilion, 60 Richards Road: Learn more about or sign up for Southborough Cub Scouts — for boys and girls in grades K-5.. For details, see dedicated post.
• Closing Ceremony for Art on the Trails (3:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Beals Preserve: Join organizers for a last look at the art installations, meet the artists, and listen to poetry on a Moving Walk along the trails. For details, see dedicated post.

Monday, September 14, 2026

• Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Trottier Middle School’s outdoor track: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. (Dependent on weather conditions.) Walkers generally go for an hour, but continue for as long as you wish. The location is a loop, so feel free to join late.
• Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The weekly event returns for the season. Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme (and sometimes a couple of songs). No registration required. For details, see related post.
• Knitting Club & Quilting Club (1:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Weekly opportunity for senior crafters to work on their projects in a social setting, including knitting, sewing, cross stitching, needle point.
• 6th Grade Parent Nature’s Classroom Orientation (5:30 – 6:30pm) @ Trottier Middle School: This is for parents of 6th graders to learn about this fall’s planned overnight trip for Nature’s Classroom..
• Virtual Cooking (5:30 – 7:30 pm) @ zoom: Part of the Southborough Library’s free virtual cooking lesson series with Ploy. This monthmake Thai Street Food. Pre-registration is required. For details, see related post.
• AWC College Essay Night Against Procrastination (7:00 – 8:30pm) @ where: ARHS seniors are invited to join the Algonquin Writing Center for a night dedicated to getting college essays started/finished in a supportive environment with the ability to get feedback. For details, click here.

• Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:15 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The weekly event returns for the season. Ages 2-5 are invited for stories and a craft based on a weekly theme (and sometimes a couple of songs). No registration required. For details, see related post.
• Bridge (12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: A weekly card group, welcoming new participants. For details, contact the Senior Center at 508-229-4453.
• 2nd & 3rd Grade Book Club (4:30 – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Monthly Book Club with discussion and activities. Registration is required. For details, see related post.
• Neary Welcome Back Picnic (5:00 – 7:00pm) @ Neary playground & basketball court: Neary students and their families are invited to attend a free welcome back picnic. • Walking Group for Seniors (8:30 am) @ Southborough cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road: Free weekly walking group organized by the Southborough Senior Center. (Dependent on weather conditions.) • American Mah Jongg Meetup (1:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Main Floor Stacks: Weekly opportunity to play. Drop ins are welcome, but groups of 4 are generally necessary. For details, click here.
• Nature Story Time (1:30 – 2:15 pm) @ Southborough Library, Children’s Room: This free program for 3-6 year olds requires pre-registration. The monthly story and craft series is put on by the Dept of Conservation & Recreation. This month’s focus is Weather. For details, see related post.
• Craft & Create (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Artist ages 10 and up are invited to show off what they can create from the library’s supplies. No registration necessary. This session is to make Beaded Jewelry. For details, see related post.
• Live Music (6:30 – 10:00 pm) @ Lalo’s Mexican Kitchen & Bar, 154 Turnpike Rd: The restaurant is promoting live music in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. For details, click here. 
• Southborough Rotary Club (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main floor: Regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Southborough. New and prospective members are always welcome. (Held on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of the month.)

• Neary Principal’s Coffee (9:30 – 10:15 am) @ Neary cafeteria: Parents and caregivers of Neary students are invited to stop by for coffee, conversation, and an opportunity to connect with the Principal in the first coffee of the school year.
• Trottier Early Release (10:50 am) @ Trottier Middle School: It’s a half day for the middle school.
• Baby/Toddler Storytime (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Library Children’s Room: The weekly event returns for the season. • Virtual Author Talk (2:00 – 3:00 pm) @ online: Registration is required to take part in the free live talk with Q&A, “The Comeback Conversation: Shifting from Surviving to Thriving with Yasmine Cheyenne”. • Genealogy Club (2:30 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: The Club welcomes drop-ins to its monthly meeting by those interested in learning more about their own family history and genealogy. For details, see related post.
• Read to a Dog (4:30 – 5:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: Children ages 5+ can sign up to read to a certified therapy dog. For details, see related post.
• Adult Game Night (6:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Join fellow gamers (ages 18+) to learn and play some new board games! Gamers are invited to try the library’s games or bring their own from home. No registration required.
• Trottier Curriculum Night (6:30 – 8:00pm) @ Trottier Middle School: The curriculum night program allows parents to hear from teachers about what their kids will be learning this year. Parents should follow their kids’ schedules. (Look for a message from the school with more details.)
• ARHS Senior Parent College Night (6:30 – 8:30 pm) @ virtual webinar: Presentation by Algonquin Guidance for parents of Seniors who plan to apply to colleges this year. (Look for message from school.)

• Intro to Robotics & Engineering (2:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Room: Registration is required for this free hands-on lessons for grades 4-7. It’s part of a bi-weekly series on specific robotics & engineering topics. This session’s theme is “Design It, Build It, Break It: The Engineering Challenge”. For details, see dedicated post.
• Sit & Knit (2:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Back on it’s bi-weekly Saturday meetings for the season. This drop-in program for ages 18+ encourages working on your latest knitting or crochet projects while you enjoy the company of fellow yarn crafters in a relaxed social setting.
