Each Heritage Day, St. Mark’s field at the corner of Routes 85 & 30 serves as the hub of activities. This year it will be lined with over 65 tents/booths/trucks. While many of them will be selling food or wares, others will be doing community outreach. And there will be plenty of free fun.
Most activities on the field will run from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on October 12th. The annual parade (which steps off from St. Anne’s Church at 9:45 am this year) ends around the corner from the field.
That means, by 10/10:30 am, the field should be bustling with activity as former parade watchers and marchers explore their options.
In my prior posts, I forgot to note that activities on the field will include food trucks/vendors and the free inflatables for kids to bounce in and climb through.
I didn’t get this year’s list of vendors. So I can’t offer a lot of details on who will be doing what on the field this year. But, the Recreation Department was excited that if the weather cooperates, a new vendor will have a display pen of Dino Robots next to Rec’s booth.
In past years, fun has included the Boys Scouts’ monkey rope bridge. And exhibiting businesses and community groups often use free games/competitions or giveaways to attract attendees.
Plus, don’t forget that from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, the Knights of Columbus’ will hold its Soccer Challenge for kids and teens on the field. (Click here for those details.)
Most activities (including the parade) are rain or shine. Fortunately, the forecast seems to be headed in the shine direction.
With that in mind, it’s worth highlighting that the day will also be a great opportunity to take advantage of the newly enhanced park across the street. You can sit at the Heritage Park picnic tables to enjoy lunch you bought on the field and enjoy games from the new game box. (Click here for those details.)
Also off the field are the Friends of the Southborough Library’s Book and Bake Sale and the Fire Department’s Open House. For all of the Town’s Heritage Day activities — and the weekend activities including the Pumpkin Stroll and Golf Fore ALS fundraiser — click here.
