The design of Cordaville Park, also called the Triangle, at the intersection of Cordaville and Southville Roads has provoked strong opinions from many of you. Love it or not – I happen to love it – the park presents a dramatic welcome to those visiting Southborough from the south. Justine P. (Powers) Murphy, 88, died peacefully Saturday October 22nd at the Heritage Nursing Home in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of Edmund D. When a Marlboro Road family petition a year ago to remove a tree at the end of their driveway because they said it was a safety hazard – and when the Board of Selectmen voted not to cut down the tree – the story elicited strong response from many of you. Despite the no-vote, the family didn’t give up their effort, and last week they convinced the Board of Selectmen to change its mind. Southborough officials may be hoping for more consensus around the town budgeting process this year, but when it comes to school budgets, consensus may be hard to come by. The Board of Selectmen and Advisory Committee earlier this month asked town departments to prepare an initial set of budgets for next year that are reduced by 1% over the current year.
