SPD asking people to stay home due to white out conditions

Around 7:30 am this morning, the Southborough Police Department posted about the dangerous whiteout conditions caused by today’s storm. It included the request/warning: “If you do not need to be on the road, please stay home! If you do not have an AWD or 4WD vehicle- you will not be able to make it to your destination.”

Storm Warning & No School: February 23, 2026

By now, everyone should be aware of the 18-24″ of snow headed our way starting tonight, Sunday, February, 22nd.

That’s combined with high winds that will likely mean some power outages. And since the storm is hitting a huge region, restoration times could be slow.

Prepare for snow storm with “Major Impacts” on Sunday (Updated)

NWS lists Southborough as likely to get at least a foot of snow and experience hazardous driving conditions. And brace for a longer term chill.

The National Weather Service’s latest updates for this Sunday’s storm show an 80-90% chance that Southborough will experience “Major Impacts” and times when driving is “Dangerous or impossible”.

West Nile Virus risk is still “Moderate” in town, but there are high risk communities to the north/east

This week, a woman from Middlesex County tested positive for West Nivel Virus. Earlier this summer, the Southborough Health Department issued a warning about mosquitos tested positive for West Nile Virus in Southborough. Southborough’s “Moderate Risk” status hasn’t changed since I shared the news, but there have been changes in the region.
