There’s an election next week

I don’t know about you, but with everything going on, I almost forgot about this one. So here’s a reminder that the annual town election will be held next Monday.
Of the 13 positions up for grabs, only one — a seat on the regional school committee — is contested. I’ll give you some more information

Assabet to refund cash to Southborough

You don’t hear much about budget surpluses these days, but that’s exactly the situation Assabet found itself in recently. And because of the surplus, they’re refunding money to member towns, including $19K to Southborough.

Who will develop a plan to renovate the police station?

Back in November, the Board of Selectmen endorsed a plan for a new one-story building to replace the existing police station. At a meeting last month they reversed course and requested that a plan to renovate the current building be developed in parallel.
“There seems to be a desire by the town to investigate an addition/renovation,”

Overdue bills will cost you more

If you don’t pay your town bills on time, it’s going to cost you. Town Meeting voted last month to raise the demand fee — the feel that’s charged when your account is more than 30 days past due — from $5 to $20.
The $5 charge had been in place for at least 25 years.

Two trucks collide on Route 9

From the Southborough Fire Department:
The driver of a truck was transported to the hospital when two trucks collided Monday afternoon on Route 9 westbound at Flagg Road. The driver’s injuries were not life threatening.
Police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the crash at 1:54 PM. The crash had Route 9 westbound down to one lane
