Walgreens buys Eaton Apothecary

by susan on October 26, 2009

Walgreens has purchased Holliston-based Eaton Apothecary for $19M. Eaton has 12 Boston-area stores, including one in the Southborough Center plaza. Walgreens said it would keep “most” of the locations open after the deal closes, which is expected to happen in the next 90 days.

You can read more about the deal in the Metrowest Daily News.

What do you think? With two Walgreens already in town — one just down the road on Route 9 and another in the Southboro Medical building — will Walgreens keep the Southborough Eaton open?

it’s too bad…..I switched to Eaton because the service was more personal, like back in the day when Charlie ran Southborough Drug. Walgreen’s is just too commercial

Agreed. Eaton’s is more like a family neighborhood drug store. I hope they keep the Southborough branch, we love it.

Their service is great and you can count on them to get it right; and you can’t always say that about Walgreens or CVS.

Eaton in Southborough is not being sold to Walgreens. I was in there this morning mentioned how disappointd I was and they said they will remain with Eaton Apothecary. Only a few will remain and Southborough is one of them.

I’m glad to hear the concern about the fate of Eaton Apothecary in Southborough. I work there as a pharmacy technician (and have lived in town my entire life) and we could not ask for a better community to serve!
