Rain and wind downs power lines, floods basements

There’s no denying it’s been one wet week. Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. has been measuring the precipitation at the fire station and reports that since the storms began earlier this week,they’ve had over 4.5 inches of water.

Southborough share of regional school budget to increase by 5%

The regional school committee on Wednesday night approved a budget for the coming fiscal year that is a 0.66% increase over the current year’s budget. But because of growing enrollments, Southborough’s share of the budget will be 5% higher than it was last year.

Monday is last day to sign up for youth wrestling clinic

Algonquin wrestling coach Peter Connery, along with some of his varsity wrestlers, will offer a youth wrestling clinic for kids in grades 4-8. The 12-week clinic starts on March 9. No experience is necessary.

Eaton Apothecary broken into again

The Metrowest Daily News reports Eaton Apothecary was broken into again on Tuesday night. It’s the second time in three months. Back in November someone threw a rock through a plate glass window to enter the store. Police Chief Jane Moran said there’s no indication yet that the two incidents were related.

Snow delays school, some residents without power

A wet heavy snow blanketed Southborough this morning causing schools to be on a 2-hour delayed start. According to the National Grid Storm Center, about 50 residents between Southville and Richards Road — along with a handful of others scattered around town — are without power this morning.
