Heavy winds topple trees in Southborough

I went for a walk yesterday and practically had to cover my head to protect myself from all the small branches and other detritus falling from the trees overhead thanks to the strong winds. But branches and leaves weren’t the only thing falling from the sky, actual tress fell, too.

Baseball and softball opening day on Sunday

The Red Sox may have been playing for a while now, but in Southborough opening day is Sunday. Southborough Youth Baseball & Softball will kick off their spring season with a family picnic, fun, amusements, and a silent auction. It all happens at Mooney field from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Open mic night to benefit Dennis Wrenn scholarship fund

The Algonquin chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society will present an open mic night at Algonguin on May 4, with all proceeds going to the Dennis Wrenn Memorial Scholarship Fund. Students and alumni will perform. The event starts at 7:00 pm in the Algonquin cafeteria. Admission is $3.00.

Candidates for Planning Board lay out their priorities

Two candidates seeking a spot on the Planning Board — Paul Cimino and Andrew Mills — talked with voters at the candidates night this week about their experience and their priorities for the board. Lisa Braccio is also running for a seat on the Planning Board, but she did not attend the candidates night event.

Town meeting attendance relatively high this year

The budget challenges the town faced this year translated into a higher than attendance at the annual town meeting. On the first night of town meeting, 377 residents filled the seats at Trottier. The second night, which traditionally has a much lower attendance rate, saw 244 residents turn out.

Northborough voters allocate money for court action against Southborough
