Northborough’s big annual community event is Applefest. This year, it takes place Friday, September 20 – Sunday, September 22. (Scroll down for their list of official events.)

Normally, I don’t cover festivals in other communities. Northborough is an exception. Many Southborough families are tied to Northborough through Algonquin which has strong ties to this festival.

One such event is Saturday night’s 2nd annual New England Harmony Brigade at ARHS concert. (It isn’t on their list, but is taking place at Applefest.)

20130918-harmony-brigade-smlThe concert features the quartet Men in Black, and the 100 man Harmony Brigade Chorus. This year, Algonquin choral students from ARHS’ Chamber, Camerata and A-Gents Choral groups will perform as the opening act.

Northborough Southborough Music Association will receive a percentage of each ticket they sell. So pre-purchase by going through their website. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students 18 and under.

Note: Applefest staff will be collecting $10 donations for fireworks from people parking in the Algonquin lot Saturday night. If you show your concert tickets or online receipt, they will allow you to park without paying.
