Northborough Southborough Music Association has been boasting the accomplishments of student musicians.

This month, the district’s 6th-12th grade jazz bands have been busy with “Jazz Month” activities:

  • They practiced and performed with Guest Artist Jeff Galindo for a crowd at Algonquin Regional High School. (Visit the NSMA Facebook page for some beautiful photos of the event.)
  • They traveled to the UNH/Clark Terry Jazz Festival, where:
    • Trottier Middle School (and Melican) won the top ranking of Outstanding Middle School Bands for the second year running.
    • The ARHS Jazz Choir earned Outstanding Jazz Choir.
    • ARHS’ Jazz I and II earned Honorable Mentions.

The high schoolers also hosted their division’s annual jazz festival by the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators. ARHS Jazz I & Jazz II were both awarded Gold medals and will advance to the State Finals.

  • Dillon Ford – tenor sax
  • Matt Burmeister – trumpet
  • Matt Collins – trombone
  • Jonah O’Brien-Weiss – drums
  • Connor Jenks – tenor sax
