Long Weekend at Glance: Scouting for Food, Drama Out of the Box, Windsor Chair Making, Wilson Drive dedication, and honoring Veterans Day

Above: Saturday morning is the deadline for putting out your bags for Southborough scouts to pickup. Monday is the Town’s ceremony honoring Veterans Day. Saturday, November 9, 2019

  • Scouting for Food deadline (9:00 am) @ your driveway: Leave your non-perishible contributions to Scouting for Food (for the Southborough Food Pantry) at the end of your driveway by 9 am. (Please check expiration dates first.) Scouts will be picking up contributions until about 12:30. Or you can bring your donation directly to the Southborough Food Pantry at Pilgrim Church before 12:30. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Scouting for Food sorting (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Pilgrim Church: Scout volunteers will be sorting through collected donations for the Food Pantry. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Drama Out of the Box (11:00 – 11:45 am) @ Southborough Library: Children explore the world of acting through pantomime, story-telling and creative expression. This program is for children ages 5 and up. Registration is required. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Windsor Chair Making (1:00 – 4:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: An expert will share his knowledge and experience designing and building Windsor chairs with demonstration of using antique-style tools. Sponsored by The Friends of the Southborough Library. For details, see dedicated post.

  • Dedication of John Wilson Drive (11:00 – 11:30 am) @ Southborough Golf Club access drive: The public is invited to join Town officials in naming the golf course’s access road for the “former Town Moderator, Veterans Agent, and [consummate] volunteer and patriot.” For details, see dedicated post.

Monday, November 11, 2019

  • Veteran’s Day Ceremony (11:00 am) @ All Wars Memorial on the common across from the library: American Legion Post 161 and Veterans of Foreign Wars – Post 3276 will lead the town’s Veteran’s Day ceremony including readings and patriotic music. All veterans and scouts are invited to participate. Southborough residents are encouraged to attend in observance. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Rotary’s Salute to Veterans (7:00 pm) @ St. Mark’s School, in Taft Hall: The Southborough Rotary Club is presenting a program to hear from several Veterans about their service experience. For details, see dedicated post.
